Why natural hair isn’t fun anymore

I know I haven’t written about my natural hair in the longest time or even new products I’ve tried lately, and to be honest, it’s not fun anymore. Some big events have occurred in my life, and I haven’t taken care of myself or my hair in months. I had somewhat of a regimen going but the consistency wasn’t like how it used to be. It’s no longer fun, and here’s why…

Stressed

For some people doing their own hair is relaxing, and I used to be one of those people, until “life” occurred. Sometimes there’s so much on your plate that fixing your hair is the absolute last thing on your mind. Like I stated I still had somewhat of a regimen but it didn’t include detangling- at all. If you’re natural you know that if detangling is missed our hair becomes a webbed mess. That’s exactly what happened. I became too lazy, which in turn caused me to have to cut my hair.

Everyone is natural

Now don’t get me wrong, advocating for natural hair is still #1 for me. I love that everyone wants healthier hair. But now everyone has a YouTube channel, wants to monetize, and it’s becoming the same info over and over.

Run out of ideas

I’m not a very experimental natural. I can’t flat twist (haven’t learned), and other styles are challenging as well. I’m in the stage where I want to try new styles. Not the same old twist-out or braid-out, and if so, I don’t want to do it myself. lol.

I’m in a very lazy stage of my natural hair journey. And I’m ok with it, but to be in this stage, I’ve realized I still need to take care of my hair. Currently, I have a protective style, which is great for when your hair isn’t fun anymore.

Let me know in the comments if you’ve ever been in the stage I’m in now.

Girl I’ve been like this on and off for 35 years lol. My solution used to be going back and forth between flat ironing and wearing a wash and go. But now I don’t feel like flat ironing anymore because it’s a of work and you have to take your time so you won’t get heat damage. So when I get bored I’ll cut or put it on a ball or pony tail lol. You’ll get back into your hair sooner or later. It happens.

Detangling is never fun…I probably have a breakdown every time like that’s it I’m getting a relaxer lol but I’m not going to give up that easy.

    Great post NaturallyNex.
I’m in that stage right now. I got another cut because I just simply hate to fool with my natural hair. I find it that hair stylist are higher for natural hair than relaxed hair. I wanted color so badly that I went to someone unknown to me, but known to a friend…and not only was I charged $180, but my hair was severely damaged after she bleached the hell out my hair. I’m to a point that I hate washing my hair, hate that it’s not nothing like it was before the color damage; I hate buying and trying products, I hate to look at YouTube because everyone’s doing natural now. I’m sick of trying this and trying that, and it doesn’t work. I’m seriously thinking about going back to that creamy crack. At least I’ll love it, I can style it, and it’ll grow back faster. I’m to the point where I simply hate being natural!

I’m like this now, I’m doing a 6 month protective style challenge with twists and braids.its so freeing to actually get up and not worry about hair.I’m on a waist length journey and will be 4 years natural Mar 2018.I love my hair and I love caring for it but the longer it gets, its becoming more like a job when its out. This is when u go to protective styles for an extended break or chop if you’re just completely over it

Yes!! I feel the exact same. My hair is long (which I wanted) but lawd it’s a job sometimes lol. But protective styling is a MUST especially when you don’t feel like doing your hair. I may join you in that 6 month challenge! Thanks so much for reading.
