How I afford to travel on a budget

how to travel on a budget2

Summa Summa Summa time. 🙂 So you can say I’m a little excited for the Summer season! I’m even more excited for the many vacations I have planned. But like with anything, especially traveling during the summer, the cost can add up. So why not travel on a budget!

That’s the only way I know how to travel. Here’s how…..

Groupon

If you have already seen my group-0n coupons post than you know how much I looovvve Groupon! Especially for vacations. Every vacation my husband and I have been on were through Groupon (Belize, Hawaii, and soon to be the Bahamas). It is best for vacations because most of the time it includes flight and hotel.

Amazon

Amazon is my 2nd best friend! I buy everything off of Amazon, sometimes even my toilet paper if I don’t want to go to the store. lol Bulk baby! Anyways, Amazon has great, cheap deals on swimsuits, traveling cubes, beach bags, sunglasses, sandals, sundresses, just about anything you can think of. If you are wanting to stay on a budget I suggest Amazon Prime, which will get you free shipping and your package will arrive in 2-3 days.

All inclusive

Hotels can be expensive although websites such as hostels.com and airbnb.com have great discounts, sometimes you just want an all-inclusive stay. Opt for all-inclusive anytime you can especially if you are traveling out the country. Then you can relax and get all the food/drinks, and activities you want without having to think about it!

Avoid Tourist Restaurants

If you don’t opt for all-inclusive it’s ok just stay away from any touristy restaurants. Basically anywhere that has signs saying they welcome tourists, etc. Before your trip research restaurants where locals go, this will save you a lot of money and I’m sure the food will be better.

Travel off-season

This is by far one of the best ways to save money in traveling. Traveling during the months of December-October you will find the best deals on all things travel (hotels, car, plane). If you can wait to travel, I definitely suggest that you do.

Public transportation

Taking public transpiration rather than renting a car is your best bet. The first time I took public transpiration was in Hawaii believe it or not (don’t judge). It was a cheap- quick way to get around. Also, the Double Decker tour buses are also cheap and allow for freebies on food and other activities via a booklet.

Fit as much as you can in ONE suitcase

If you are trying to save some for the flight and avoid paying for 2 or more checked bags than packing one suitcase is your best bet. Roll those clothes as tight as you can, and like I mentioned above opt for packing cubes. They are life and space savers!

Let me know if this post was helpful! Also, how will you save money traveling this Summer!
