5 reasons: My natural hair is not growing

5 reasons- my natural hair is not growing

Have you felt your hair isn’t growing? I have multiple times until I looked a little deeper into what the issues were. First, lets just put this out here, your hair is growing and if you think it’s not, here are 5 reasons for haulted growth:

Breakage/Damage

If you are experiencing breakage your hair could be breaking off as fast as it’s growing. This can be due to having split ends, which results in little to no length retention. If you have damage from coloring, or just do not have a healthy hair regimen, this can result in less length. Check your regimen and trim when needed.

Slow growth cycle

Natural hair grows on a cycle, which means your hair grows at different rates from another naturalista. Sometimes natural hair may seem like its growing like weeds while other times, it looks like the growth is stalled. Typically, growth cycles are determined by genetics. There is nothing that can be done to change the growth cycle of your hair, but this does not mean your hair is not growing.

Health issues

Our bodies have miraculous ways of showing us when something can be wrong internally as well as externally. Depending on the type of underlying health issues, the body can bring attention suddenly by excessive hair loss or breakage. Hormonal imbalances as well as eczema, dermatitis, or alopecia are some medical issues that could affect the scalp and cause hair loss.

Minimal water Intake

Moisture from the inside out is what natural hair thrives off of. It is necessary to drink as much water in a day that you can to keep those strands happy! Minimal water intake results in dry, dull hair and can lead to breakage as well as stunted hair growth. If you do not like the taste of regular water try adding fresh fruits such as lemon, strawberries, lemons, etc. You will be getting the needed moisture required to keep your hair healthy as well as your skin.

Lack out moisture

Now that you are drinking water, the next step is use water or aloe vera juice to moisturize your hair externally. If you are noticing your hair is dry that could mean your natural hair regimen is not working. It’s possible for your natural hair to break off just as fast as it grows so lock the moisture in with your favorite oils.
