Washing Children’s Hair

Washing Children's Hair

Natural hair regimens can be time consuming if you are doing your own hair, but it’s another story adding your children’s hair to the mix. Well, don’t fret neither has to be too time consuming especially with a plan of action. We are no longer in the Just for me era. This is just a marketing plea to get parents to buy certain products because they have kids. Smart right? So let’s go!

 Select a wash day

Yes, you should always have a wash day for yourself and your children. They can be the same day or a different day, whichever is easier.

Testing products

Make sure that you are testing any products used before fully applying them. Although, I suggest using the same products on your kids hair as your own, you never know what reactions they may have that you do not (we all get different reactions to products). Opt for all natural products if you can.

Detangling tools

Having detangling tools available and ready is important. You can use a denman brush, wide-tooth combs, etc.

Find a comfortable place to wash their hair

Comfort is so important when trying to do something like washing hair, which can be a very uncomfortable process for kids. Try washing your kids hair during bath time this way it is easier to distract them with bath toys and such. Also, let them have a bath chair or something similar so they can bend back on. Trust me it is easier when you are trying to wash products out of their hair.

Invest in a detachable shower head

Detachable shower heads make washing hair so much easier. You can control how the water flows onto the hair as well as the speed the water comes out. It’s safe to say you won’t need that old school cup you rinse their hair out with.

Order of Hair Care regimen for your child

Section off hair just like you would your own hair using clips.Make sure when you are detangling with the deep conditioner in their hair that you are very gentle. Start from the ends to roots.
