World Natural Hair Show-ATL (Travel)

I love to travel, although I do enjoy traveling more with my husband, I still enjoyed my trip to Atlanta to the World Natural Hair Show (Taliah Waajid) representing Uncle Funky’s Daughter. The World Natural Hair Show has been around for 19 years and not only does it involve natural hair but it also represents health and other expects of beauty. It was held at the Convention Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

My flight was interesting to say the least, I went the cheap route since it was a quick trip, and took Spirit Airlines for the first time. Let’s just say never again. When I arrived it was raining, which was pretty disappointing. Fortunately- by the time I got to Park N fly plus to pick up my complimentary car, thank you DriveShop, the rain had died down. I was so excited to see the valet drive my cute midsize SUV up—-2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, 4 door! And it was in my favorite color-blue! I was so happy to see that. It was perfect for a nice quick weekend in ATL, and not too big.

With an EPA fuel milage rating up to 23 MPG city/28 MPG highway, the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is very fuel-efficient for a small SUV and the combined fuel economy is 25 MPG. The average cost per year spent on gasoline is about $1800, which is great for someone who is trying to save their coins at the gas tank. Such a smooth ride too! Oh, and it was a push to start! Love.

Although I did not get to drive too far because my hotel (Marriott Gateway ATL) was about 2 miles away from the airport. The Marriott Gateway ATL sits right next door to the Convention Center, where the hair show was located. So it was very convenient to walk right next door after working long hours at the show. Marriott Gateway is so beautiful, some of the pros are complimentary parking, multiple tv stations (lots of hotels only have select channels), and room service. The cons were they did not have free wifi, which is a nightmare for a blogger-fortunately, my wifi had been already been paid for. Another con was there was no complimentary breakfast, maybe I’m just greedy lol but I love a free breakfast. Room service was great though, and I ordered something different every night. It was quick, easy, and good food.

I loved the size and comfort of the bed and pillows. It was very nice, and the view of the airport tram was definitely a plus. I didn’t get to spend too much time at the pool (until I was wasting time to catch my flight) but it was also lovely.

I worked at Uncle Funky’s Daughters booth all 2 days of the World Natural Hair Show, with a few other bloggers like Ayana and Trissa who is the Marketing Director for UFD. Friday was pretty quiet,  because the event did not start until Saturday morning. So, I just drove around ATL in my Outlander Sport. Then, I just watched tv and ordered room service at the hotel.

Saturday was very different. Let’s just say it was packed! If you could see how many people were in our booth you wouldn’t believe me. I loved meeting Ayana, Trissa, and a few other naturalista bloggers. Especially loved meeting all the different naturals and telling them more about UFD. There were a lot of people who did not know about the products, definitely loved explaining more to them. Also, styling their hair with the products were so much fun. But after Saturday-I WAS TIRED! There were Saturday night performance by Musiq Soulchild and Angie Stone, which I didn’t go to but heard it was great.

Sunday was about the same just not as packed as Saturday. But still met a lot of naturals and once again styled their hair. It was so nice educating you guys on the products as well as answering any other questions you had. It honestly, was perfect. I was exhausted Sunday night, so I just went to the hotel room and ordered room service again and just sat. lol yes, I’m so lame but I don’t care. I was too tired to move.

Monday, I got some breakfast, and once again drove around. I ended up at Target and Ross Dress for Less, looked around in both of those stores. The view near both of those stores were amazing, trees, “mountains”- nice. I was sad to drive back to airport because I would have to park my Outlander Sport. Ugh.

All in All, this was a great trip! So thankful to DriveShop and Mitsubishi for giving me a complimentary ride while on my trip. Next time I come to ATL, which will be in November, Atlanta give me a little more sun (although, I’m sure it will be cold), and I know I want the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport again. Loved it! Have you traveled to Atlanta before? Let me know in the comments what you did, and what I can do on my next trip.
