7 Self Care activities to cope with stress

Self Care

If you are an adult you have and will continue to experience stress on a daily basis.  You have bills, kids, your husband (who’s like a kid)lol, and a full-time job. Self-care activities have become a habit for me to help cope with daily stress. While making your weekly to do list, don’t forget to include relaxing activities. You will need a ton of activities to try — if one doesn’t work switch to another. Here are 7 to give you a start…

Here are 7 self-care activities to cope with stress

  1. Get a massage. Some people buy massage memberships (ballers) and make it a habit to get massages monthly or even weekly. Massage Envy is definitely a place you want to give a try for a monthly membership. If you can’t afford a membership then try to get a professional massage every 3-6 months.
  2. Take a hot shower or warm bath. This may sound obvious, but for parents especially just getting alone time for a warm bath is the best. Add some bath salts and candles and you have your own spa in your house. Try this at least once a week.
  3. Paint your own nails. Yes, going to a nail salon is nice but sometimes we don’t want to bothered with the technician or anyone in the salon for that matter.
  4. Listen to music. Lately, every morning right after I wake up, I turn on I-tunes and listen to some music. I think doing this helps motivate me to have a good start to my day.
  5. Asking for what I need. This may sound silly to some but straightforward to others because not everyone asks for what they need for someone. Adults take on too much. Sometimes asking for help is just what we need for self-care.
  6. Unplug. That means no internet and no phone. Try this at least once a week. I’m slowing trying to do this. It’s not easy but is worth it. Another tip: Don’t bring your phone into your bedroom.
  7. Gratitude journal. What are you grateful for? Try writing down in a journal what you are grateful at least once or twice a week. I started doing this and I find that I feel better and it makes me less negative.

We (women) lol well, adults have too many worries. Make sure you are applying some form of self-care in your daily activities to level out the stress we put on your bodies.
